[Bitterfeld-Wolfen/Germany, December 14, 2022] Rising energy costs are increasingly becoming a burden for medium-sized German companies. In some cases, companies are even being forced to shut down or interrupt their production. Companies able to become independent of fossil fuels and instead rely on solar power as a reliable and affordable form of energy supply now have a decisive competitive advantage.
This is the case for TIK Technische Industriekunststoffe GmbH, located in the Temnitzpark industrial park near Neuruppin. Since the end of September 2022, the medium-sized company in northern Brandenburg has been benefiting from self-generated, low-cost solar power from the roof of its production facility.
The 678 Q.Peak DUO ML G9 modules used for this purpose, each with an output of 385 Wp, were supplied by Qcells, a globally successful full-service provider of clean energy solutions. IK.Solutions GmbH from Schwedt carried out the turnkey construction over eight weeks, and will take care of the ongoing operational management of the solar array.
With the plant, TIK GmbH meets almost half of its annual electricity requirements. The plant is expected to produce 235,000 kWh of electricity per year. This corresponds to the annual consumption of around 70 three-person households. 142,000 kg of CO² are expected to be saved by the installation.
"In our machinery, which we are continuously expanding and modernizing, energy-intensive turning and milling machines are used around the clock. That's why we use the electricity from the PV system primarily for our own needs in the manufacture of our plastic products," explains Georg Tegtmeier, Managing Director of TIK Technische Industriekunststoffe GmbH and operator of the PV system. "Especially in the current situation, it's a good feeling to know that we have more control over our energy costs and security of supply this way. We want to use additional energy storage systems and also use our own solar power to charge electric vehicles on site and feed it into the power distribution grid."
